As justified as his actions would love to be
He selfishly walked himself up to the church
Where it had been said that she would be wed
Never received an invitation but the word of mouth promotion
Did enough for him to want to come
He simply had to see it for himself
And she needed to see him is what he believed
Yes it would be absolutely necessary for the closure to begin
So what it had been well over three years since they had been
What most would call an item but they just called a thang
So what he shattered her dreams at any given opportunity?
To do so, if there was just a sliver of love left for him in her heart
This would be the time for it to come out
Regardless of what past pains he might have put her through
All he knew is that if he walked in behind her on queue
She would leave everything she ever knew for him, again
Like she did before when he transformed her mind into believing
That it was only him that had the power over her being
How selfish was he, and how could he have ever thought that
She preconceived his coming, a solid year before even coming to
The alter and decided against providing a queue that would
Allow him to put a hole in the new life she would enter
So with his ego he sits outside the house of the lord
Plotting to take back a love that was never his in the first place
Only to be upset by the fact that the reverend
Would skip the part in the ceremony of where
He ask if there is anyone that disagrees with this union and
Jumps right into the ‘I do's’
Frantic outside the doors, hearing the words he'd despised
And denied to allow her to speak he racked his brain
To think of an acceptable way to burst through the church doors
See while he knew what she wanted was marriage and a life
With a man that loved her and only her
He refused to give that to her because he had his own agenda
One that didn't include marriage and
He didn't mind the fact that she had held on for him for five
Long and lonely years while they had been together
All he cared about was that he thought that when she
Said that it was time for them to part ways on a sunny day in
June three years prior, she would still come back
But his door never opened to her
So now he was left sweating outside a church door
With the one woman whom had ever truly loved him
Standing at the alter about to say I do
But what could he do?
Because by her purposefully omitting his queue from her ceremony
She had taken any inkling of power he had over her and
Thrown it to the wind
It was at that moment when she kissed her new groom
In a white wedding dress embroidered in cobalt blue
That she was finally free of any remaining iniquities...
