New Study Says Blacks Spend Double Online Time As Others Oct. 11, 2005 – African Americans are using the Internet in record numbers, according to the 2005 Cyberstudy, conducted for AOL by IMAGES Market Research. The study shows that blacks are spending more time on the Internet than the general population (5 hours a day compared to 2.9 hours a day for the general online population), and are closing the gap in Internet usage with nearly 80 percent of African Americans having access to the Internet verses 88 percent of the general population. The study shows Blacks see the internet as a vital lifestyle tool, and are going on line to find information on news, entertainment, health issues, finance and sports.

I happen to spend not enough time on the internet as I thought. Not as cost effective as getting out and about. But I'm downloading software as I type and plan to get a better internet package ( better broadband) by this weekend.
What do people really use the internet for?

I think it's used majorially for quick-access browsing, news and shopping.
