This is a book written by Atlanta native Pearl Cleage. She has previously written What Looks Like Crazy On An Ordinary Day and Wish I Had A Red Dress. Non-Fiction essays include Mad At Miles and Reasons To Riot. She has captured the essence, the sights, smells and sounds of Atlanta's West End. Talk about making me homesick. The characters and dialogue are well thought out and honest. Particularly Blue Hamilton who sounds like a slice of heaven on earth. I read it in one sitting and enjoyed every moment of it. If you get the chance its a wonderful way to escape. I highly recommend it and the other books as well. She's one of the best kept secrets and What Looks Like Crazy was an Oprah's Book Club recommended reading.
