I love joy's sci-fi event so much I feel like joining in. so I'm going to present to you Just like home! an online story enjoy yourself!
It's December 24th 2003 and the city of Richmond VA is buzzing off the hook with excitment. The streets are lit with the flickering of holiday lights as Jasmine looks out side her bedroom window.
She breathed a heavy sigh as she looked up to the twinkling sky, her house was quiet and somber. Her mother hadn't come home yet and her two older brothers were out some where with a ho hoing.
The petite teenaged girl closed the door to her small bedroom and turned on the television. It seemed as though majesticness of christmas had faded away for every year she aged.
As she sat on her bed she longed for the years to be turned back to where she was seven years old and sitting on her fathers lap beliving in Santa. The years that the entire family of five would dress up the christmas tree as they sung hymns.
The past brought a sad tear to her eye as she quickly removed it and went on to wonder when did the change appear? Perhaps it started when her father died when she was ten. That day seemed to drag the spirit of every holiday under the soil with his natural body. Or maybe it was when she turned thirteen and momma decided it was time for her to get over her greif and live.

Jasmine just knew that when she said live her life, her mother would include her children in her plans. However with the help of her new found twenty five year old friend Tonya, Lauretta was hanging out in the clubs as if she weren't thirty four.
In fact, the more time Lauretta stayed in the club the less time she spent paying attention to home. Her two sons barely paid went to school anymore. She didn't even notice that they were spending more time in the streets, coming home as late as the morning. She never noticed that had it not been for Jazzy the house would be a mess because Lauretta never cleaned. The boys respected noones authority and Jazzy had noone to share the triumph of her excelent marks on her report cards.
Christmas eve and in the Thompson family three bedroom apartment, there was no christmas tree. It would be understandable if they simply didn't celebrate the season. They could have claimed as such becuase they weren't in a religion that didn't celebrate it, the Thompson family just didn't care to pay attention to the season.
A frustrated Jazzy flipped through chanells on her television. Two hundred plus channells yet nothing to watch. She was exhausted of watching music videos and every other program simply seemed to be to full of the christmas joy.

She hit the mute button on her t.v. when she heard a jingle of keys outside the apartment. "Ho, Ho, Ho!" She heard a booming voice come through the living room doors and she could have sworn it was the sound of her father, coming back to rescue her from her christmas hell. The soft laughter that followed the jolly joy annoyed the hell out of her. It was her brother, Joshua. His voice had an unmistakeable resemblence to her fathers voice. For every year he grew, charecteristics of his father came on stronger. Sometimes Joshua's voice brought tears to Jazzy's eyes. She couldn't bare the thought of hearing her father in her head and not being able to touch him.
She fell back on her bed and laid her head down on her pillow. She turned the volume on her television up as though to drown out the voice of her brother and his friend. "Merry Christmas to me." She continued to flash through the channels, frustrated with every thing she saw.
A tender knock at the door aggrivated her more. "Yeah." She said basically through the wall. She wasn't really looking forward to company, she already spent the better part of the holiday alone why add company now? It wasn't like they were a family she thought.
Joshua walked in and gave her a tender smile. She didn't know if the smile was do to genuwine sibling love or the lovin' he would be recieving later that night. "What's up young?" Jazzy rolled her eyes at the southern richmond fad talk. Richmond guys were always shortening words and lengthing the syllables so it sounded all slow and country.
She gave him a quick nod as if to say, "speak your peace fast" She then returned her attention back to the television. "Look her sho' I got you a lil sumphin for merry day tomorrow. I've got company so I may be waking up late tomorrow." Another smile came to his face and she rolled her eyes hard. "What ever, check it, I got you two presents because you have been looking like you lost your bestfriend lately. One you can open today and the other you can open tomorrow. Don't tell John boy you got two gifts, you know he can be as vain as a woman!" He laughed thinking about his younger brother whom shoped like a woman but was all man.
Jazze's eyes lit up as she sat up on the bed, "Thanks Josh!"
"No, problem, just do me a favor and stay in your room for the night."
"Why, this my house too!"
"I know, but I just want to get a lil qt time before momma get's home. Where is she anyway?" Josh was fixing his appearance in the mirror. He was just as handsome as their father was.
"She's is out at some party with Tonya. I think they went to Secrets in the City. I saw some holiday bash flyers in her room."
"Oh damn man, she's chillin' at the spot's I'm gonna be at next year man. Joshua was twenty years old and after the new year he would be twenty one. He planned on partying hard, and running into his mother was not in his plans. No matte how young she looked, it just was not the jump off to be seen with your mom at a club.
"Ha, maybe you can get her to pay your way!" Jazzy couldn't help but laugh, it was a funny situation.
"Aight, so now you've got jokes!" He laghed himself.
Jazzy jumped up and ran to her closet, she had gotten a little something for her brother as well, she presented him a walmart bag. "You know I'm not one to wrap gifts! Besides it's not like we have a tree up."
"Oh damn, I forgot about a tree." Once again chuckling to himself. "Thanks Jazzy, he said as he put his gift under his arm. He gave her a kiss on the forehead and made his exit.

Jazzy dove right into opening her first present. She was like a child in a Willie Wonka store. She couldn't get the perfectly wrapped paper off of it fast enough. I was pair of gold earings that dangled and diamond studs on the top. She released a squeal of joy at the thought of being pampered by her brother. Then she reminded her self that he didn't have a job so this was probally the fruits of an unhealthy labor. But whatever, she had some fly earrings.
She tried them on as she danced in her mirror It was always the little things in life that made her smile and forget about the things she had once focused on so deeply. She took a hand to sweep back a few pixie style braids to admire the earings. The fit her face perfectly.
She had a slim oval face so she couldn't do the guady thing, but she always wanted to indulge in something dangling from her ear like she was grown and dripping wet with sexual appeal. She danced all the way back to her bed where she picked up the second package. It was so slim and light she knew it was going to be a sequal to her earrings like a necklace. The packages wasn't long enough. Nothing jiggled as she shook it so her mind started to tick.
"It is my present so I should be alowed to open it when I'd like!" She wondered if her brother would mind if she gave it a sneak peek. How could he? He was in the livingroom pumping Jay Z's Black album out of the Rent a center sound system while flirtatious laughter filled the room behind him.
Temptation overthrew her better judgement as she clawed the second pacakage open. "A book!" She exclaimed as the literature layed exposed in her finger tip. "How would Joshua know where to get a book from?" There was a card attached to the book that was plain, grey and had simple confetii streaming down as graphics. "Up Top Flava for You, 325 N. 2nd Street" She read the words off the card and once again wondered what was this place and how did her brother know to go there.
He wasn't the sibling that loved to stay up in a store especially if it wasn't for him. He'd go in the store already knowing what he was looking for and come out with enough time jump back in the car before the engine got cold.
"Reflections of a Woman." She read the papyrus lettering that adorned the cover of the soft back book. Three roses bloomed in the background of a tan scroll. "A poetry compilation, Nikkea "Auset" Lewis" were the words that read under the title.
Jazzy being the fan of poetry she was, had to crack the book on open. Her eyes grew large as half dollars when she read her name in a blue ink and a signature of the author endorsing the authenticity. "What! Let me find out Josh knows authors!" She sat back on her bed once again switching the volume on the television to mute. She opened the book further and continued to indulge in something new.
She didn't get past reading the contents when she grew increasingly aggrivated at the volume coming from the living room. It's funny how things never bother you until you are trying to get some peace and quiet and read a book.
Jazzy proceeded to her the living room to politely ask Joshua to turn down the volume just a schooch. As a voice boomed, "What more can I say!" from the entertainment system, it was like the guy took the words right out of her mouth! She walked right in to a grade a sex show with some girls light skinned ass tail up on the couch. Holding on to the edge as Josh pumped like a greedy old man from the back.
"What the hell!" Jazz exclaimed as the two looked at her and then continued right on with their scene. Jazz was too damned shocked to even back away. This boy was not up in the damn family room getting it on with his hoochie of the week while his younger sister was right in the next room! And of all places in the living room where her mother could roll right on in and catch the two of them, assed out.
When it finally clicked that he wasn't going to stop getting his until he was finished, she backed on into her bedroom and fell on her bed laughing hysterically! Her brother was a freak! She always knew her two older brothers had to be having sex. Even her girls talked about her brother like he wasn't her brother and they wanted a peice. But when she saw the evidence in her face she didn't know what to do.
Three minutes later there was a knock on her door. "Yeah"
"I thought I asked you to stay in your room!" Joshua said so upset he was turning red. He wasn't the least bit embaressed but if the girl wasn't so loose and uninhibitated she would have stopped and that would have really pissed him off.
"Excuse me but I am not your child, you do not roll up in her screaming at me like you lost your damn mind when it was you who was getting your damn freak on in a public part of the house!" Jazzy was pissed off that he decided he was going to come in ranting and raving like he was crazy, like he hadn't just bust a nut where she watches t.v. and entertains friends from time to time.

"Yo whatever man, you always actin' like you rule the house, I asked you to stay in your room and if you would have oblidged we wouldn't be at this moment."
"Oh great theory and you have the nerve to use college words, why you coulnd't just bring your hoocie to her house to get your swerve on, I can't believe you!" a fluster of tears welled up in her eyes as she screamed out profanities at her older sibling.
"You just don't understand. Look, what did you come out there for anyway?"
"I just wanted to ask you to turn your music down so that I could read the book you got me for christmas."
"I see you have no patience." Joshua smiled at his younger sister as he touched the earings in her ears to let her know that he knew she had opened both gifts.
"My bad" was all that slipped from her lips, still pissed off.
"Check it sho'" more southern slang made her skin cringe, why can't he talk proper she thought? "I'm gonna snatch up sugar and bounce, I got what I wanted anyway. I thought it would take a little longer but hey, she served her purpose and now we can roll so you can have your peace."
"You better be careful them hot ass girls don't make your shit burn." Jazzy showed pure concern for her brother
"I feel you, I knew she was a freak when I met her. But I'm going to settle down shortly." Joshua allowed the dimple in his left cheek to complete his profile.
"Yeah, I won't hold my breathe." He closed the door behind her with out a farewell. Seconds later she heard the living room door open and close.
She looked out the window to see Josh heading down the street with slim sugar in hand and she was all over him like brown went out of style.
Jazzy went back the her book which was sprawled across her bed. She made a note to remind her self to ask Joshua how he was able to get a signed copy. She knew he got around so either the author was one of his many women or she just knew him from around the way.

It hadn't even been ten minutes into her reading when Jazzy was startled by a commotion in the living room. The sound of glass splattering all over the wood floor caught her attention. Her attention was diverted from the poem "A week in the life of a black woman" and a strange pressence came over her. She heard voices in the living room that didn't sound like anyone she knew.
"Oooh! We hit the jack pot baby!" one strange voice said.
"Yeah, merry christmas to us!" The other deep voice continued.
This couldn't be what she thought it was, a break in, on christmas eve! This evening was getting better and better for her. She crept up to her door and cracked it open to see to figures snatching everything from cd's to dvd's out of her families entertainment center.
Where was Joshua and why hadn't they come only twenty minutes earlier. Frantic thoughts rambled through her mind as she ran to her phone to dial for the police.
"911"
"Yes, I want to report a break in."
"What's going on ma'am I can't hear you."
"Well I can't talk any goddamn louder I have people in my house taking my shit!" She hated to loose her cool and sound ethnic on the phone, the last thing she needed was for 911 to not respond because she was the wrong color, in the wrong neighborhood and with the wrong attitude.
"So there are people in your house ma'a,? Is that correct?"
What was she talking ebonics! Another crash came from the living room, "Shit man becareful with that stuff." The second deep voice yelled.
"Yes, I have people in my house and they are taking my shit!"
"Are they armed?"
What the hell did she mean where they armed? "I don't know and I don't want to find out."
"What's the address?"
She just knew 911 had caller id but instead of them rushing someone out they were being damn difficult. "1314 k Chamberlayne Ave."
"Oh."
"Oh? What the hell do you mean oh!" more comotion was coming out of the living room.
"Nothing ma'm I'm sending a dispatcher out to you right now. Would you like to stay on the phone?"
"Is this your first day? Of course I want to stay on the phone, you think I want somebody to snatch me up with out someone being a witness! I'm home alone scared and on christmas!"
"Christmas eve ma'am" The operator stated.
"What the hell ever! I just want someone over here now!"
"Sure ma'am why don't you try to help me out and give me a discription of the gentlemen in your house?"
This lady was stuck on stupid, Jazzy thought, "What if they hear me?"
"Ma'am I can assure you that someone is on their way right now."
"Yo man, this house is in desperate need of some christmas spirit. They don't even have a tree up." The obviously young and lighter talking robber stated.
Jazzy was now nestled in her closet barely breathing with the phone clenched tightly to her ear.
"How is your day today ma'am?"
"Are you fucking stuck on stupid, you have got to be kidding me, i'm alone in my home while someone is robbing me and all you have to say to me is how was my day? How the hell do you think my day was!" Jazzy went off basically forgetting she was supposed to be in silent mode.
"Yo dude, you heard that? Is someone home?"
"Man, as quiet as it was when we came in it can't be."
"There was a light on when we came."
"Fuck you mean there was a light on! You was supposed to check all that shit, I thought you said everyone left out!" The deep booming voice shook the house.
A chill crept into Jazzy's spine. "Ma'am are you still there."
The phone was trembling in her hand. The voice on the other in repeated it's self. "Yes" she said in a whisper.
"Yo man check the other room."
Aw shit, Jazz was about to shit on herself in the closet. "Man aint nobody here!"
"I don't believe I asked you a question."
"Man you get on my nerve." The other voice was getting closer to her door.
"They are coming to my room!"
"Calm down ma'am the police are on the way."
"When! It's been about ten minutes! When!"
"It's a holiday ma'am." The operator was growing increasingly impatient. she wondered if she just hung up the phone and disconnected from the desperate and aggrivating girl on the other end would she get in trouble.
"It's a holiday! You just said it was christmas eve!" Tears came like a flood out of Jazzy's eyes. "Maybe I should dye my hair and bleach my skin. Maybe then I could get some assistance."
"Ma'am this has nothing to do with race. We we we just have to place the request as they come." The operator heard the reciever make a loud thud on the floor, "Hello...hello...ma'am?"

It was midnight and officially christmas day across the city. The two floor night club Secrets in the city was jamming off the hook. With three bars on the main level and one bar on the second, everyone had a drink in their hand. Lauretta barely looked her age in her fish net slink black top with the added sophistication of a diamond studed black push up bra she bling blinged all over the dance floor.
Tonya was in her groove moment next to her with a baller from the south side. He did a two step behind her holding a drink in the air that was powerful enough to knock his big ass on the floor. But the big but honey he had grinding on his private parts was keeping him slightly sober. Thoughts of getting her in his bed for some back shot fun kept a smile cracked on the left side of his mouth. He never even noticed his girlfriend rolling up behind him with her crew of home girls. The two never discussed where they were going, simply that there were going out.
The thugs girlfriend stopped dead in her tracks as she passed the huge bar on the second level. She was a quiet storm in her Louis Vuitton fetish get up. Everything she had on matched her torquise pink and white Louis Vuitton belt, right down to the pink fish net stockings and torqouise pumps. "No the hell he didn't!" Slipped from her lips in a rage of dissapointment. She fought back tears and bit her lip doing her best not to turn around to face her home girls in back of her. Sure she had planned to dance when she went out, that was the reason she had on her tight jeans and dr. scholls in her high heels. But to see her man, whom always claimed to stand at the bar and not dance, being freeked in the middle of the club set a fire alarm off in her head. Maybe if she had came alone she would have crawled into a corner and let well enough alone. But she was out with her home girls and they would never let her live it down if she didn't handle the situation at that very moment.
"What you gonna do Cherelle?" one of her girlfriends said.
"Yeah girl, my man Gerald, if I caught him basically getting it on with clothes in public like that, I would wild the fuck on out. What are you gonna do? Are you going to let him disrespect you like that?"
Cherelle was confused. What if the rolls were flipped? What if it were she that in the middle of the floor breaking for blood? She knew he would go the off, and embaress her in public. Should she do the same? Should she go off? The salt from her girls was making the fire in her grow. "I'm gonna handle my business that's what I'm going to do."
"Hold up now Cherelle, do you really want to go there? There are too many people up in here, maybe you should let him see you dancing and having a good time. Don't let him get to you." Gina was always the one to to try and mediate a situation.
"Oh lord, here comes momma Gina with that shit. Yo Cherelle, I'm going to tell you like this, you need to handle your man before your man leaves you for her." Bonita pointed in the direction of Tonya whom now had one leg up on the thugs shoulder showing off her ballet lessons as a child. She grinded her midsection into the shaft that she could feel straight through home boys clothes.
She was facing him and had by this time attracted a crowd. There were about twelve other guys that were looking at the scene and praying that she needed to take a break so that when she resumed she could use her flexibility on them. Lauretta cheered her girlfriend on sipping a rum and coke enjoying the music. One of the thugs boys eased on up behind her.
"Well Bonita, it looks like Gerald is here and you did all that talking so now what are you going to do?" Gina asked with a smirk knowing she had started something.
"Oh I'm going to handle mines." Bonita stormed off with no hesitation like Cherelle. Bonita was a size twelve and stood tall at five feet eleven inches. She towered over Gerald and Lauretta.
The deejay booth was way in the corner, yet the music seemed to stop just around the scene. Bonita walked right on up to Gerald and tapped him on his shoulder with a sharp index finger. Her nails were freshly done and she was so glad she opted for the square shape. "And what the hell do you think you are doing?" Bonita was all ghetto and had no smile on her face.

"Yo gurl you betta back up out my face." Gerald was known to be a wife beater and was drunk on top of that. Tonya had a stank expression on her face looking at the girl like damn it's just a dance. Lauretta had also stopped dancing and was now trying to restrain her liqour. What was going on, her mind was going a mile a minute.
Bonita stepped up and spoke a little louder. "You heard me mother fucker, what the hell you doin!" Her eyes were on fire, he was not going to disrespect her infront of her girls. "bitch you better back up off my man." Bonita turned her frustration towards Tonya.
Tonya was drunk but she sobered up real quick, "Don't you want to handle your man. I didn't know he had a girl, shit we just dancing don't step to me."
Bonita looked the girl up and down and started to snatch her earings up out her ear lobes. "Oh so you a smart mouth bitch huh." The music had officially stopped then. There was a crowd of people forming a circle around the scene.
Cherelle stepped up and slid an ill grill to her man whom was now looking like he just saw casper. "Make sure you follow her home tonight." She flicked her arcyllic nail in Lauretta's direction.
"Little girl, I don't think you want to go there with me." Lauretta had lost her high as well. It was easy to see the girls were out numbered by two but it didn't matter, Lauretta had old school skills on her side.
The stare down began and the main focus of the would be fight was lost as the two wanna be thugs stepped back and watched as their women stepped up to the plate. "Who you calling a little girl!" Cherelle belted out. Watching Bonita ger brolic always made her a little more amped in a heated situation.
Two burley bouncers stepped made their way through the crowd. Bonita saw them coming and knew she had to handle her business quick, they were going to get kicked out the club anyway. "fuck that!" she screamed as her ghetto ass flung a fist right into Tonya's made up eye. Cherelle leaped up and grabbed Lauretta by the hair and the brawl had begun. The two thugs standing back laughing their asses off.
Tonya flung a punch in the air just as Bonita bent down and hit the first bouncer in his face. Zap!!! The sound of tazars hit the air and Bonita came up intime to catch the electric shock. She fell to the floor stimulated by the electric surge that went through her body. The other bouncers proceeded to drag all the women out of the club by their hair, arms or whatever and threw them on the curb. The two thugs laughed it off and proceeded to dance with the next hot thing as the music started again.

Outside the club Lauretta was embaressed, she was too damn grown to be getting kicked out of clubs, not to mention she was old enough to be the mother of the girls she was fighting. "This is some bull!"
Tonya, went to the door with her coach check ticket in hand. A boucner came to the door and snatched the ticket out of her hand. "I hear that, I paid fifteen dollars to enjoy my night."
The bouncer threw her coat straight on to the ground and closed the door. "You aint have to be nasty!" she screamed as she picked her coat off the ground. Lauretta thought she was going to freeze to death in the wicked cold.
"Well let's go, I shouldn't have kept my coat in the car. Now I know why three dollars isn't too much for a coat check." The two women walked up the hill towards their car.
Bonita came out of the club and joined her girls. She had finally gotten over her electric shock and was pissed that she had been thrown out in the cold over a man that was bumping in grinding with someone else on the dance floor and didn't even come to check on her. "Fuck you bitches, you better hope I don't see you on the street!" She screamed up the hill. Tonya flicked a bird to ole girl and kept it moving.
Cherelle was in tears, her man didn't even stop getting his groove on. How ould he do such a thang. "Niggas aint shit!" she hollered.
Gina was pissed. She had to get kicked out of the club and embaressed after the scene.

"No ya'll bitches aint shit! Why everytime we go out ya'll go to act a fool!" Gina was pacing back and forth, "One of ya'll are fixing to pay my way into Bojangles."
"I heard that club be jumping and I need to find me a new man." Cherelle said shivering in the cool weather.
"What ever man, I need to get a drink after this shit. All of Richmond up in here ya'll fighting over a man that is humping someone else as we speak. I need to carry my ass home, I'm not even feeling going out with ya'll no more!" Gina stomped off in the direction of the car as Lauretta and Tonya flew by them in their whip.
"I'm too old for this shit." Lauretta kept saying for the five minutes the two ladies had been out of the club.
"I can't believe that bitch rolled up in my face like that! I should have put my foot farther up her ass!" Tonya was hyped and not ready to cool it down.
"You know what? One day you gonna meet somebody that can whip your ass and then you will be singing a different song."
"What ever girl where you want to go now?" Lauretta looked at Tonya like she lost her mind.
"I'm not trying to go nowhere else with you tonight, our luck we'll meet up with them young girls again. I don't have the energy to be jumping in no revenge fights. I need to carry my ass home."
"What ever girl, that's not what you was saying when yoku was getting your groove back with thug number two! Anyway I know where we can go, out to Petersburg they have that party going on at the NCO club. Millitary men!"
"Is your car registered to be doing all of that? You know since the 911 they've been checking the cusion in teh car seats before you get on the Fort Lee Base."
"Word about that, we are going to have to swing around your way and scoop your whip up. I need to pay my taxes and get my state sticker plus my license plate isn't on the front of my car."
"I don't even know how you are driving with all those defectives."
"Cause I'm fine that's why! I see an officer that's fitting to write me up and I wick and lick my lips to throw some pum pum his way, shoot I'll turn a sista to a dike if it'll get me out of a ticket."
"Girl you are nasty! Them ole cops gonna give you crabs, then you would have wished you paid your ticket!"
"What ever girl, Ooh you hear that, that's my song right there!" Tonya turned up the radio and they started jamming in the car to Mary's "Real Love" A throw back on the air.
"I am searching for a real love and I don't know where to go! That's my joint girl!" Tonya pulled up infront of Lauretta's house and an uneasiness came over the both of them.
"Something aint right." Lauretta jumped out the car which wasn't in park yet. She ran up to house and saw the curtain blowing through the broken window. The house door was open a crack. She took a tissue out of her purse and opened the door further.

Lauretta walked into the house with Tonya as her shadow. Both of their faces dropped to the floor as they took notice of the living room. Missing cd's dvd's and entertainment equipment went unnoticed as Lauretta set her eyes on the white peice of paper that lay on the arm of the living room couch.
Stay by the phone if you want to keep her alive and innocent
The paper fell from Lauretta's loose finger tips. Everything went haywire in her world at that moment as she collapsed to the floor.
"Oh shit!" Tonya dove down to catch her friend. She heavedher up on top of the couch and reached for the piece of paper. As she read the message to her self she felt her heart sink in her chest. She spread her friend out on the couch as she ran into the kitchen to get a glass of water. "Retta!" She slapped her friend lightly on the cheeks with a failed attempt to revive her.
John walked into the house oblivious of the situation. "Who left the damn door open!" He walked right past Tonya and his mother laying on the couch towards his room.
"John, help me with your mother." Tonya yelled out annoyed.
"What's wrong with her?" He turned around irritated thinking to himself that they were just drunk.
"Your sister got kidnapped and someone broke into the house." Tonya threw at him as she put Lauretta's feet up.
John snatched the glass of water off the coffee table and threw it in his mothers face. "What?!" Tonya glanced in the direction of the note that was now on the floor.

"Ma!" John screamed her name reaching back into his child hood. He fought back tears as he tried to revive his lifeless mother and tried to understand the situation.
"John, I need you to be calm."
"fuck that, Tonya some bastard got my sister, that shit aint gonna fly!"
"John now is not the time to be Billy bad ass." Tonya seemed to be the only sane person in the room. Lauretta was still blacked out and John was going from crying to ego tripping. "Where's the phone?"
"Jazzy probally had the portable in her room." John ran into his sisters room where he hear the faint sound of a dial tone. He ran to the closet, "Got it!" he screamed as he ran back to the living room. It was still off the hook.
"Hang it up and get a dial tone."
"We aint calling no police man!" John looked at the phone and how long it had been off the hook, the digital timer read twenty two minutes. "Don't you watch t.v.? Police always fuck things up!"
"Like you can do any better!"
"They aint coming here no way, this is Chamberlayne Ave, Tonya don't act like you don't know."
"You've got a point John but we have to do something."
"I know what I'm going to do." John ran to his room and came back with a black nine milimeter. "I'm going to smoke them cats, I swear man, they touch her I'm gonna smoke them!"
"Boy you better put that shit up before your mother comes to just to whip your ass!" Tonya turned her attention back to the woman now slightly moving on the couch.
"Jazzy!" Lauretta came to and started touching her moist face, it wasn't her own tears like she had dreamed they were. "Why am I all wet."
"Ma you fainted and I thought the water would wake you up." John stated.
"Boy with the damn door open the only thing that's going to do is give me phenmonia!"
"Retta calm down girl, we have to stay calm." Tonya rubbed her friends back.
"They got my baby.." Retta remembered why she had fainted in the first place. "Why they got to have my baby T?"
"It's all good girl." She tried to comfort her friend.
"I thought this only happened to white people!" John exclaimed.
"Boy sit your ignant ass down!" Retta screamed.
"Man damn," John closed the door and went to his seat on the love seat.
The phone rung and time started to snail. The three looked at each other as to wonder who would answer the phone.
"fuck dat, I'm answering this bitch!" John jumped up.
"Watch you damn mouth!" Retta rolled her eyes and searched for something to dry her eys.
"Yo who dis!" John spoke harsh into the phone.
"John." It was Jazzy and her voice sounded muffled after that first word.
"Hello, I want to talk to the money of the house." The deep voice demanded. He had his hands over Jazzies mouth.
"Who dis fool, If I find out who you are man I swear!"
"You swear what! I'll bust a cap right in your sweet sisters neck within seconds this aint no fuckin game man!"
Tonya could take no more, she snatched the phone out of ole boys hand. "Hello? What's do you want, why are you doing this."
"Twenty g's for christmas is why." The deep voice retorted.
"Look let's be reasonable, tommorow is a holiday, no banks are open. We don't even have that much money. What else can we offer you?" Tonya was trying to negotiate.
"fuck dat! Dat man already got our damn t.v. radio and my x box!" John screamed in the background.
"Shut up boy!" Retta let out before she resorted back to crying. "Tell him we will give him what ever he wants!"
Tonya ignored the both of them, "Look, how about you just let the girl go."
"How about you just give up the dough!" The deep voice got frustrated. "You know what, i'm tired of this conversation. I'll call back maybe some thinking time will be good for you. Because this is not a game!" Click.

A knock at the door startled the silence in the room. John looked out the window "Five 0!" He ran back to his room to conceal his wepon.
Tonya walked up to the door to greet the officer. "Yes?" She was puzzled because none of them had called the police.
The officer looked past Tonya and noticed Retta rocking back and forth on the sofa, something definetly wasn't right. "I"m officer Jones. We recieved a 911 call from this number."
Tonya looked at him puzzled, "Well none of us called the police."
"It must have been Jazzy!" Retta exclaimed, breaking in and out of her trance when it was convient but not enough to be of any help.
"But that could have only been over and hour ago." Tonya was still puzzled but it did make sence.
John came back in the livingroom singing, "I called 911 a long time ago." Mimicking Flava flav and Chuck D from Public Enemy.
"You think we should tell him?" Retta looke more like a slave asking for permission from massa than the mother.
"He's already here. Someone kidnapped our neice. He's just called and is demanding a ransom of twenty thousand dollars.
