Man, this book gets straight into the drama huh? Mrs. Idabell Turner is a trip and nasty, gettin' down like that at the school. lol
I can already tell there will be a series of events to come and that dog is already gettin' on my nerves. lol
You know, I realized that the short story in the beginning is the prequel to "Yellow Dog." I had read a little of it last year and some of the characters I'm remembering. It's more of Easy's past.
I think that the principal is a trip but just how a lot of [bold]them[/bold] act, always tryin' to accuse a brotha of something.

What's with the theme of adultary so far in the 1st 3 chapters? Mrs turner,then Ettamae, or am I reading this wrong?
Chapter 1
Bold,saucy,sexual,sad and that damm mutt.Now this is what Icall an introduction to a classic book, that will have you reading for more.
Fav Line-" I wanted to thank GOD.....or his least favourite Angel"
Chapter 2
The 'other' women in his life,his role within the school and the other cast members.
Fav line-i"f we were men it might have come to blows".
Chapter 3
The power stuggle.
Fav Line- "It's amazing how 10 mintues with a women can turn you silly"
So far I'm seeing the history of the school, the significance of race realtions & classisims and the adultary aspect of the story. I need to finish chapter 6 and get back to you..........

These chapters reak of adultery My favorite description/quote in Chapt. 1: "Her skin was like rich chocolate - dark, satiny, and smooth." Favorite quote in Chapter 1: "Mrs. Turner gripped my baby finger. It's amazing how a man can feel sex anywhere on his body." Favorite quote in Chapter 2: "As I watched her descend the stairs I remembered reading the words "A good man is hard to find." With somebody like Idabell Turner looking for him I could see why." Favorite in Chapt. 3: "Newgate was watching me. I was used to it. White people like to keep their eyes peeled on blacks, and vice versa. We lie to each other so much that often the only hope is to see some look or gesture that betrays the truth." Gotta go to work, I'll be back tonight to finish. |

I can't wait to get a little further into the book. Yeah, he and Ettamae had something going on. Too much is on the line, his past, Mrs. Turner, The Principal and more is to come.
