I feel bad then. I'm on chapter 21. Sorry Jam, it got too good! lol I'll wait for you but you got to promise to tell me when you catch up. So many things were happening so fast I couldn't make myself put it down. I attempted but just kept reachin' for it and it don't help that since my car is out of commission I ride the train to the bus to work (too much time to not read).

This plot has truly thickened. Man, I didn't want her to die! I didn't see that comin' at all. Is that where you're at?

I have a confession I've finished the book (it got to good) but I'm going through chapter by chapter as agreed.
Her Death was due to happen I never trusted her one bit, we still have the issue of that dog. Love how it's called Frenchie by Easy's daughter.

Chapter 28. That's where I'm at now.
But I want to go back and discuss from when he went with Sanchez to the police station. I'll elaborate later on tonight when I get off work. I'm so tired. I'm just tryin' to post on everything before I fall asleep. But since you've got free time, any ideas of what to read next?

Sanchez is viewed in 2 ways .The conformed enemy and the 'I need a break' man. Maybe because I have family in the bluefoot team, I understood him a little better. His charcter suggest he has a lot more depth and horror then is potrayed. Unfulfilled story later to come amongst the classic Easy Rawlins collection? Who knows.
The small scene of the man being beaten up in the cell was harsh.I could visualise the blood, embrassment, desperation of help and angry rage that he possessed, but was unable to express beacuse of his location. So defenceless against someone who should be his 'brother in soliarty'.
Again I come back to Sanchez and the realtionship wuith the 'other' officers and older & wiser men who know and play the real game of cop v innocent.
Get back to you wednesday, got a full day tomorrow. Get some sleep.

Man, I can't tell you how much that picture painted of the guy in the cell gettin' beat up affected me. It reminded me of all of our people that lost their lives, were severely injured physically and mentally from bigotry. It angered me.
Sanchez is a guy that I love to hate. I want him to be on Easy's side at times then other times I want him to just go away. I understand his position. He and Easy aren't really that different from each other. Both struggling, trying to make it in the white man's world. It's interesting and I would like to see more revealed of Sanchez' life - although I know it probably won't happen.
I'll be back to elaborate tonight.

Hey Jam,
We'll have to come up with another book to read. I'm still not finished (it's takin' me forever to finish) but I should be finishing it tomorrow on the train.
We'll do a better discussion next time round. We can still have a final discussion though once I finish.

I finished it today on the bus! I really enjoyed that book. But it left me worryin' bout Mouse and upset that Jackson Blue got away with Jesus' life savings - that pissed me off.
And I had been wonderin' what had happened to Sanchez, he disappeared for a while.
Great choice of a book.
