They can, but I think people don't fully committ themselves to one another anymore. And too many couples use divorce as a problem solver instead of trying to make it work. Giving, taking and sometimes just letting things ride.
That's my opinion.

I don't think we're hoping for too much. A lot of people are just not mature enough to handle certain situations, so the rush out of a marriage the same way the rushed into it.

Marriage can work..u just got to be real committed to the idea....one mate and no others....if u can handle that cool get married....if u cant....dont simple as that..too many people rush into marriage and knowing they are not ready to settle down...look at me..I will be 30 in a few weeks and I know..Im not ready to settle down yet....so I dont try to pretend I am...Im just a free sprit enjoying life till the special someone enters my domain...until then I will continue just having fun as only I can!!

I spend more time with Married friends then Single friends....and I'm not trying to be anchored in just yet, but I want to know and observe the issues related to marraige that will benefit myself and my hubby later in life. Divorce is a no no in my viewpoint, you can be seperated but no divorce...unless thier is serious abuse involved, I still say know to divorce.

I say no to divorce too. Only sometimes if they won't let it work and they want to see other people and they go off and start seeing and doing other people...best to just give it up and turn it loose.

I heard the divorce rate is 50%! That's crazy! I'm also scared to try to get married in the future! I like J's idea of trying to "let it ride out". Not lettin' problems simmer, but just come close as you can to compromise and let time (and God) heal wounds. Good topic ya'll.

But how many in that percentage are our peers ? I've been to more baby blessings then weddings in my little life span so far, and heard more " it's not working" then I care to notice. At my foundation church ( ;D) they hold marraige seminars for 6mths before you get married . You don't attend, then get to the local office, cause my old pastor never played with marraige. He refused to attend his only daughters wedding due to them meeting and in 2 weeks getting married .

I think with celebrities they tend to go a little too far for example "Star Jones" I happy that she is happy but I think she is over doing it. You do not have to prove to the world that you are just tooooo happy even though I still think o'l boy is hittin in both directions just my oponion. I just feel like they feel like they try to prove to the world that they'r in marital bliss. Evrything that glitters is not GOLD so take it easy and do things one strp at a time and stop trying to be so grand. It is a shame how marriages are falling apart but I just feel that people are not taking the time to truly be friends and take things one step at a time they are acting as if marriage is suppost to be disposable and that si so untue.
