The horn-inflected rock 'n' roll of Chicago meets the funky R&B of Earth, Wind & Fire this summer, and fans across the nation have the opportunity to witness the union. The Grammy-winning bands are teaming up for a two-month-long co-headlining tour, set to begin in mid-June.
Fans can expect to hear more than three hours of hits during the concerts, which will begin and end with both groups playing onstage together. The middle sections will feature full sets from each band.
The tour launches June 12 in Houston, hitting amphitheatres in major markets across the U.S. through August 15, when they'll wrap in Seattle.
Both bands formed in the late '60s in Chicago, each developing its own eclectic style based on the rich musical heritage of that city. Earth, Wind & Fire built on their funk base with elements of jazz, soul, rock, blues and more, while Chicago created their signature sound by fusing a jazzy horn section onto a rock'n'roll base.
