Mean Fiddler announces two summer extravaganzas
JAZZ CAFÉ PICNICS LAUNCHED AT TWO OF ENGLAND’S MOST PRESTIGIOUS STATELY HOMES
Mean Fiddler are proud to announce two new annual music events that are certain to become established landmarks in the British Music calendar.
Under the Jazz Café Picnic banner, Mean Fiddler are launching two very different events. The first is at Kenwood House set in the splendid grounds beside London’s Hampstead Heath on Sunday 11th July. The second event will be at Thames-side Marble Hill House in Twickenham on Sunday 15th August.
Headlining at the Kenwood House Jazz Café Picnic on 11th July will be R&B phenomenon Joe. The seven times Grammy nominee will be supported by contemporary soul brother Anthony Hamilton, US soul pioneer Amp Fiddler, nu-soul artist Dwele, hip hop MC and DJ collaborative Blackalicious and West coast soul, hip hop, jazz singer Goapele.
Zero 7 will top the bill at the Marble Hill House Jazz Café Picnic on 15th August. Supporting Zero 7 will be the Indian-influenced urban beats of Nitin Sawhney, electro big band jazz combo the Matthew Herbert Big Band, sultry singer Willis and jazz and beats twosome Two Banks of Four. Overseeing the occasion will be UK DJ Gilles Peterson.
“These are very different events, reflecting just two of the many and varied musical sty les regularly presented at the Jazz Café in Camden,” said Rob Hallett, Director Head of Music at Mean Fiddler.
“We have selected two fabulous locations which will hopefully encourage a whole new generation to sample the delights of what English Heritage has to offer, right in the heart of London.”
With its riverside setting and 66 acres of parkland, Marble Hill was completed in 1729, originally built for King George II’s mistress. The stunning English Palladian villa houses early Georgian paintings and furniture and features lavish architecture and decoration. Kenwood House, dating from 1779, is an outstanding new classical house that holds one of the most important collections of paintings in the UK. With lakeside gardens, meandering pathways and wonderful views, it is one of the finest stately homes in London.
The spectacular natural surroundings of Kenwood House and Marble Hill make them the perfect locations for the Jazz Café Picnics and the two shows will be the first of their kind at the stately homes. With each of the sites celebrating over three hundred years of history, the Jazz Café Picnics will add a new aspect to the colourful heritage of these magnificent venues.
Shows start 2pm
Tickets on sale on Tuesday 11th May at 9am from 0870 602 1101
