I think they are makind a big tadoo about music that has ALWAYS been really good. I just think that they are just trying to make it seem as if it is some big new genre when it is music that has simply been slept on from the media. People are so use to hearing the same thing over and over again that they do not take the time to really listen GOOD cultural music. Perfect example "Sean Paul" he is a good artist but I think there are so many more that do not recieve bigups.

I agree with Msmoore. It's something new to everyone who was one sided and only listened to pop or only listened to what MTV/BET/VH1 played or the radio played.
I think it's good though that a lot of artists are finally getting their due and I want to see it expand more. ;D

recognition is good.. but, i don't like how it's going somewhat-mainstream.

Mainstream pays the bills, just don't lose your credability( any body seen Shabba )that's all that I'm asking. Right now in the UK we've had good Jamacian artists shows cancelled, due to homophobic songs in their albums and singles. But Marilyn manson and H.I.M could perform devil tunes no problem . I love Soca,Reggae,Rare grooves,Bashment and so forth. But even I sometimes have to question the content (not on the batty man ting thou) of the lyrics. Who exactly does the songs profit, and what stereotypes are we fullfilling when we go mainstream.
