Ya'll feelin' him?
If so, holla.
I like this CD alot - it's now a classic. IF you like that old-school soul, this CD is for you. The man is very talented, and the way he uses choirs and vocla harmonies is pretty slick.
Johln Legend - Ordinary People -- ***** stars for me.

Yeah, they said they were as good as Ordinary People, but a lot different. More jazz-ish.
He got some skills on the ivories. I'm still tryin' to perfect "Ordinary People" myself...

So you play the treasure box ( piano ). I've always wanted to be able to lead a church choir on the hammond, but alas I got the violin and recorder . John's album is classic.....but I'm hooked on all his video's at the moment looks like my ex..........anyway the album is tight. I love the song with the family.

I like John Legend a lot but I disagree with VIBE labeling it a masterpiece. Don't get me wrong I like the cd but I consider a masterpiece to be EVERY SONG off the chain and I like most of the songs but not EVERY SONG. What do you guys think about it being called a masterpiece?
The same thing was said about Alicia Keys "Songs In A Minor" and I disagreed with that and the fact that she got 5 Grammys for that when just a couple years before that Lauryn Hill won 5 Grammys for "Miseducation" they made it seem as though "Songs In..." was on the same level as "Miseducation..." to me.

I don't know about that, but it was VERY, VERY good.
Sometimes people will go overboard because of how much different the music is, and JL's CD is not your average R&B and soul.
Still a fine CD, tho'.

I agree, just don't think it should be called a masterpiece. I know it's been a while since we've had some new blood in R&B but to call it a masterpiece is crazy.

I lent the album to a work collegue and she brought me a new one cause she played it that hard......
Masterpeice? Not for a while yet. But in the eyes of the general commerical buying public who don't know about Zap mamma, Rapheal Saddiq,Anthoney Hamilton, Bilal, Carl Thomas, Floetry, Jon B and others of DECENT-REAL INSTRUMENTS-PLAY WITH YOUR GRANPARENTS IN THE ROOM musiq, this is a masterpeice. And I 'm still whirling around on the bus to work, singing my heart out at 7am in the morning ,to ordinary people,Cloud 9 and that cheating song I never remember the name of ( track 4).

Is it "She Don't Have To KNow"? That's my favorite song on JL's cd, after that it's "Live It Up" and then "Ordinary People"

I hate people who cheat but love the songs that give the game away. Listening to Mint Conditon's nbew album Luxury Brown and yep, another cheating song and I love it just as much.
Anyway back to JL, waiting to see him in concert can't wait. He gave an okay performance when he came over with West, last year as his supporting act on stage. I was a sorry audience member and took no notice of his talent, as I was that bored with the whole event. So this time he will get my full undivided attension.

I think he'll be around for a while...I hope so. He and Alicia Keys should do a duet together.

I think a duet with Syleena Johnson,Conya Doss or Amel Laurieux would be better than Miss Keys......but if they played an instrumental peice on the piano, that would be perfect.
Trying to get backstage tickets to the concert ( wish me luck).
