What is it we people dread about nappy hair. I was at work yesterday when one of my supervisors " suggested" to me that I specifically needed some Dark and Lovely. The nerve of him. He didn't bother asking me if I like my hair in its natural state or no, 'cause it was twisted up. He just embarrassed me in front of alot of people.
I've been taunted by people all my life about my hair. Though, some how in adulthood, I thought that ended Maybe I was incorrect.

Those bitter little kids that like to pick and talk about people just grow up to be grown ass people that talk about people. The next time he test your heritage by calling out your hear, note him on the history of our people and how proud you are to show off your heritage in the best way possible. Tell him how proud you are of your hair and how it is only dreaded by those whom don't know the knowledge and are themselves ashamed.
That is one of the main reason's I got my locs. Our people are so down on selves about our hair and complexion. Like lighter and straighter are the way. Last time I checked I was beautiful when I let my fire auburn locs down onto my chocolate brown skin. Girl don't sweat it, they would love to plug in our mind that we need a relaxer to be ourselves. I would question if that is for your comfort or theirs? Are they afraid that with you having your natural hair you will be more inclined to learn about your heritage? Keep your head up girl, we've got your back!

There's no need for you to feel embarrassed. He should be embarrassed by his ignorance. People are so quick to suggest what other people need before they look at themselves. Maybe his self esteem is low, or he isn't happy with himself. Pointing out things that he doesn't like about others may be a cover-up for his own insecurities. All I say is fu*k him. Embrace your culture, embrace your history, embrace your natural state, and fu*k those who question otherwise.

You have no need to be embarassed but he was out of line and unprofessional that little bastard! See what he doesn't understand is that every body does not think that stringy, thin, weak hair is attractive. He didn't know that you were too smart for that shit. There is nothing and I repeat NOTHING more beautiful than a natural woman a woman who knows that she is good enough and does not need any artifical add on's. You keep being you and if they don't like it Fuck um girl fuck um!
