Okay, I don't want anybody to get the wrong ideas about me because of the way I might debate religion. I just want to put out on the table that what I want to do is to start a mature and intelligent discussion based on being open minded. Many of the points that I will bring up I don't believe, but I want to see what is inside your mind! By the way, for all who may wonder, I love Jesus and I am not afraid to say it. I just don't believe all the hype that religious leaders have been pumping to humanity since the beginning of time! I hope you don't mind that I call God the Force. Mainly because by changing the label I am more willing to believe, than by associating over 2,000 years of myths and parables with the same idea. And everybody, go ahead and point out where I'm wrong, so I can adapt my thoughts. The universe as I can perceive and comprehend seems to repeat itself in certain aspects. The model of an atom has always struck me, because it is very similar to the manner in which the planets look. Also the coincidences with the number Phi and the golden spiral. Many of you are aware with this stuff. These coinicidences and similarities led me, high off weed of course, to come up with a scientific explaination to the mass delusion which is known as religion. Let's take the brain and what I know of it. The human brain contains between one thousand trillion and one million trillion synapses. There are currently 6,360,380,412 people on the planet Earth as of the moment that I'm typing this. Well that is an estimate of course. My theory is that if conciousness is what happens when one thousand trillion synapsis communicate with one another, then the Force is sort of the total result of all the interactions between the 6.3 billion humans plus the animals & insects. In my eyes I think that energy can not be destroyed or created. And that our brains operate off some sort of energy. Also I think that when two people creat a bond with one another you start having emotions for that person. I heard somewhere that emotions are just energy in motion (Dr. Dyer). Much like the way you can't pinpoint your conciousness to one synapsis, I don't think the Force is aware of individuals. I don't even think the Force can perceive. But I believe the Force exists. In my eyes, the Force is 'an energy feild that surrounds us and penetrates us. It holds the universe together.' in between all of us, within us, and around us. The Force cares less. There is only the light side and the dark side. The Force is indifferent to what we do to one another. If you fall into the dark side of the Force, forever will it consume you. Your life will be crappy. Is that the way you want to live? It is up to you. The Force cares less. Remember, in nature if a tiger eats a deer, is that wrong? It is what it is. Humans love to speak all this crap that God created us to be above all. We are God's children. God only loves us. He loves you. He holds you above the angels. Get off it! "Faith is believing in what you know ain't true." --Mark Twain this topic is being discussed by college proffesors, priests and other's at XXI's forum in this thread, and at ILovePhilosophy.com here if you want to see what others think about it.

I think you are going in this with a new age point-of-view. God is not a force. He is a being. He is a trinity, which is you understood who are in this trinity. God does not abide only in the seen, but the unseen. Just as you are in physical war in Iraq, there is an unseen war in the spiritual realm. "[we] fight not against flesh and blood...'' The angels are at constant war with demonic spirits, principalities, etc... Furthermore, there is not a two sided "force"; there is God in heaven and the god of the earth and all below, Satan aka the devil.
God DOES care if you fall into darkness. If he didn't, he could have destroyed us all long ago, or let us toil in our suffering forever. That, however, is not the case, otherwise Jesus' purpose would have been defeated. Also, God did place mankind above the angels; that is way the temptation of Adam and Eve is called the" Fall of Man"... ... Ring a bell? Hmm?
I believe you are trying to reason something you or myself can not fully grasp. We can not define the infinite with the finite. There is no number crunch big enough to box God or identify his presents in the universe.
By the way, I would like to know the type of hype you refer to in your statement. Also, [glow=blue,1,300]this is the best dialoge I've ever had in this forum![/glow]

I'm glad you asked about what hype.
For centuries now, it has been an accepted fact within academic and even top religious circles that Jesus Christ wasn't born from a virgin. The history of Christianity is awesome and it is vast. It will blow the minds off anybody that reads it. And because there are a lot of points that even the Pope would agree with that the average believer doesn't know, I call it hype.
For example. Your last post was all hype. It was talk like that in the first place that made me turn my back on God. Because I was cursed with a very analytical mind. I'm a thinker, a constant thinker. That doesn't make me better than anybody else, it in fact makes me worse.
Pope Constatine held a convention in 400 a.d. to discuss the religion. He himself didn't believe, he was a Pagan, but he was also the Emperor of Rome. But he wasn't stupid. He knew that if this religion were to get big, Rome would get big as well. So what he did was he made some changes. He made changes so that people being conquered could assimalate into Christianity much easier.
The first most notable change was in the Bible. He, and the cardinals at the time, thought that there was too many books in the Bible. There were books that Jesus himself wrote, and others like the Gospel of Mary, that didn't depict Jesus as the Messiah he wanted to sell to these villiagers. (By the way, that is how the word villian came to be. The villiagers that didn't want to convert to Christ were called Villians)
The next change was Jesus' birthday. He changed it to December because it was right in line with the worshipping of the Sun god that the majority of the world believed in. They actually teach this to the Priest. This is known fact, not me rambling about theories.
Now the debatable issue, was one of saying whether or not Jesus was the actual son of God. Remember, Jesus doens't refer to himself in this manner. He calls himself the Son of Man. But the times where he does claim he is the son of God...... look. Aren't we all children of God?
Jesus was a great man. He told Peter that on this rock I want you to build my church. The rock that he was saying has been argued for two millenia. I believe the Rock was his New Testament. Not him! Jesus doesn't seem the type that wants to be worshipped. Isn't that the sign of conceit? Of having a large ego?
If I was Jesus, and I died for you. I wouldn't want you to worship me. No, remember me. But don't go around killing others in my name. More people have died in human history under the name of Christ than anything else! That is wrong.
Maybe it is because I'm a thinker. And because I go around and try to find out the truth, it doesn't mean that I think I'm better. It makes me worse because I wish, I mean I really wish I could have undeniable faith in God the way you do. But I don't. I doubt his existence. It is better for a person like me to think he is a Force, that way I can still be spritual.
Oh yes he is. In the form of the Holy Spirit.
And I'm very aware of the Holy Trinity. I had a daughter and I named her trinity. It is a sacred word if you were to break it down. It stands for the number 3, the number that the authors of the Bible used to symbolize totality. Total. Complete. Like water ( the foundation of life ) having three states. Also the molecular structure of water is of three atoms.
Plus the number seven which symbolizes perfection. It took God six days, but on the seventh he rested. Seven deadly sins, seven scrolls, seven maidens, etc.... Also the seventh letter of the alphabet was placed there for a reason. Because it is the letter that starts off the word God. This is all stuff you can research in any book on numerology and Bible symbology. I learned it as an alter boy (I wanted to be a priest when I was younger).
Well, seven times three equals total perfection. Also known as 777, and in the Book of Revelations (I don't have the Bible next to me to show you the exact scripture) it says that the Son of Mans' number is 777. Put together it is 21. Two unseeable forces and permutations of God, and one that can be seen. Put together it becomes the Holy Trinity. Write it out in Roman Numerals and you get XXI. So yes, I know about the Trinity.
Don't get me wrong. Like I said in the start of this thread I'm not trying to get against you, just giving other options to old thoughts.
Very true, I agree with you 100%. And I'm quoting you on that one because it was worded perfectly.
The problem here is that your entire belief system is dependent on the Bible. And because I'm not buying the trash the Bible says, we will never agree. This discussion won't go elsewhere. I know. Because I am going to argue with you on who told you that God does care? Where did you hear this? Was it something that you came to a conclusion yourself, or is it something that has been fed to you, your whole life?
Remember, white people where fed lies that blacks, and latinos weren't even humans for years. You know why? So that their young kids wouldn't feel bad when the slave was getting beat down. They never questioned their parents. They never did. And for hundreds of years our people suffered! Because of ignorance.
And now our people suffer again! But it is from a different form of slavery, a mental slavery. I'm not saying to deny religion or God. Oh, by far no. In fact trying to be like Jesus is the best thing anyone can do. I just would like for everyone to start questioning what they do know.

I feel you on some parts of your reply. To answer you on some things:
Again, I say to you, you are trying to fully understand something you and I will never be able to comprehend. God is too big for our brain to contain. I think alot, sometimes too much. I believe we are in the same boat, as a matter-of-fact. However, when it comes to the Lord, and His word, the Holy Spirit leads me, and I don't second-guess Him.
At one time, yes, my faith was based on a man written book. However, growing up the way I had, the were days, months even that I lost my faith, and thought of God as cruel and unjust. Though, it was those same times when at rock bottom Jesus Himself took me out. He bacame more evident to me. I was about to attempt suicide several times, when Jesus stopped me. So, I KNOW THAT I KNOW JESUS IS MY SALVATION BECAUSE OF WHAT HE HAS DONE FOR ME PERSONALLY. I KNOW THAT GOD CARES AND LOVES FOR EVERYBODY.
If it were not for Him, I would be dead. I have a purpose though, and the devil knows that, and so do you. That purpose will nontheless glorify God, and he doesn't want that. Satan would rather attack your heart and mind until you feel weary, and kill yourself, to insure you don't live out your meaning. I am not saying this is his one tactic, but it is one he tried often with me. I AM LIVING TESTAMONY FOR JESUS.
My friend, you can not stratle the fence with God. You need to surrend you concepts of everything you've read, or heard- believe even to Him. Then He will reveal Himself to you. You must humble yourself first.
I know about all that. I do all of reading about the occult, also (Dante, St. Thomas Aquainas, etc...) But, I don't try to process the info I'm getting without guidance from above. My understanding can only go so far; His is unlimited. Some of the things you mentioned about Christmas, and some things about Halloween and Easter I've learned over the years, and my family WILL NOT partake in these events, due to their pagan histories.
Yes, we are, and so is Jesus. Remember, He said the only way to get to God was through Him, and that He was seated at the right hand of His Father. Oh, and Genesis 1:1, how the Word was with God and was God. Who do you think that was? Certainly not Krishna, etc...! Jesus wants us to live by His teachings, but he also wants us to lift Him up. If we don't do it, ''the rocks will cry out.'' God an His son are THAT AWESOME! That's in Genesis, too. I think you may have a problem with the thought of someone you can't control have power over everything, meaning you too!
I know we, as black folks, have been fed tons of caca over the centuries. That much is true. But, for me what I know as come to me by experience, and being open to God. I have read many books on other religions, to decide what I wanted to be( 'cause Catholism wasn't and NEVER be it!) But, the Lord always pulled me back to Him. I am not sure why He has not increased your faith and love for Him. Then again, I am not sure why He allows alot of things to happen or not. I ain't trying to change your mind, I just want to let you know why I say what I do. I figure at the end of time when, or if in your case, we stand in front of God, ultimately He is the only one we will answer to. Ultimately, we are accountable for ourselves.

OThe moment I accepted Jesus as my Personal Lord and Savior, I was redeemed! It is a great feeling to know that I will still fall short of perfection, and still maintain a place in His Kingdom. It is great to not have to carry my burdons allone, like I used to. I still go through trials, but Jesus is omnipresent. I am SO at peace.

I've done it myself and I have others say that "i am saved, and I am redeemed and i have been forgiven" but how do you know..is it an emotion or people just look into things in their own perspective to see a "sign" from above. The whole thing relative, I've come to find and believe me, I have searched, I have been "still", I stopped begging an dprayed for a long time with no answers but then again if there was an answer, is that really an answer or just another human emotion/hype "telling" you it's a sign. The whole thing is looking bogus.

It isn't an emotion. I can not fully describe My experience. I know, though, that when I was at the point of self execution, the Lord stopped me from hanging myself. When my mom was on her death bed, Jesus appear to me. When I was getting my ass kick my a really bad Staff NCO of my, Jesus help me forgive her, and not stab her in the neck like I wanted to. I simply gave my entire way of living to God. It is not easy by long shot, but again I am at peace.
